Get a contract signed electronically in Australia

From the last fix to the signed copy, in one window: change the dates, send it to the people who sign, and keep a record that shows nothing changed afterwards.

1. Fix the details first

Change the start date, the price or a name with Edit text. The old words are removed from the file, so the version that gets signed is the version you meant. See Edit the words in a PDF without retyping it.

2. Send it for signature

Choose Request signatures, add each person who signs (up to 20, in order or all at once) and put their signature, initials and date fields where they go. Each person gets their own link and confirms a code sent to their email. They don't need an account. See Get a PDF signed by other people.

3. Keep the record

When the last person signs, everyone gets the signed PDF. It ends with a Certificate of Completion: each signer, when they signed and from where, and a fingerprint of the file as sent and as signed. If anyone changes the file later, the fingerprint won't match.

What the law says

Most Australian business documents can be signed electronically under the Electronic Transactions Act 1999 (Cth) and the matching state laws. Wills, some deeds and some property documents have their own rules, and those vary by state. If you're unsure about a particular document, check with your adviser before you send it. Is this a digital signature?

It's an electronic signature with a tamper-evident record, not a certificate-based digital signature. For most business documents an electronic signature is what you need.
